Antenatal Consultation
An antenatal consultation is a personalised service based on your birth and feeding goals. A face to face meeting in the comfort or your own home or via video call will provide you with the confidence and knowledge to make informed choices based on information, evidence and your own needs and wants.
This is a valuable opportunity for Mamas to be and families to gain a deep understanding of essential aspects of newborn care, particularly focusing on breastfeeding.
During these sessions, you will learn about: the significance of skin-to-skin contact, which fosters bonding and helps regulate the baby’s heartbeat and temperature. The concept of the “golden bubble” is also explored, highlighting the importance of creating a nurturing environment for both Mama and baby. These sessions provide a supportive space to discuss individual feeding goals and develop tailored plans to meet them, ensuring that you feel empowered and confident in making informed decisions. We will address common questions and concerns, antenatal sessions equip you and your partner with the knowledge and tools necessary to embark on your parenting journey with assurance and positivity.

Postnatal Support
Postnatal support offers you valuable guidance and practical advice for helping your baby feed effectively.
First we will conduct a comprehensive feeding assessment, allowing us to find out how things began for you and baby, looking at your birth and how this might have affected baby. Then from the assessment and feeding observation we will create a tailored plan to tackle any challenges you may encounter, such as sore nipples, slow weight gain, mastitis, or insufficient milk supply.
I will also be available via WhatsApp for 2 weeks after the session to answer any more questions or concerns. You can also send me videos to check baby is in the correct position and latched well.
My goal is to empower you to feel more confident and fulfilled in your breastfeeding journey.

About me

I’m Grace, wife to Jason and Mama to two beautiful girls May and Elma
When I was pregnant with May I really wanted to breastfeed mainly because I thought it would help me lose all my baby weight (I don’t think it really did as I love cake!) but as we got further into the journey I realised it was way more than losing a bit of weight, I fell in love with it and enjoyed it 99% of the time. I felt comfortable and empowered I was feeding and providing everything my baby needed. I had a fairly easy journey with no real problems, other than the odd cracked nipple at the start! I was so sad it came to an end after 14 months.
Then a few years later Elma was here and I was looking forward to experiencing our journey of breastfeeding together, thinking it would just fall into place and be easy! But boy was I wrong. We had a tough time, far too much to go into detail but basically.. slow weight gain, two tongue tie releases, dairy allergy, shallow latch, top ups and the list goes on. I saw lots of professionals along the way, some good and others not so helpful. Also I found there was a massive lack of resources and expectise from the NHS, the waiting times were long and the main advice I got was to give baby formula. I soon realised that everyone has an opinion and all I wanted to do was feed my baby the way I wanted. For me that was to exclusively breastfeed. After around 4 and half months and seeking help from an IBCLC things started to improve, we cut out the top ups and I’m still successfully breastfeeding.
Anyway, breastfeeding became a passion right from the start of feeding May and I always thought about becoming a breastfeeding counsellor. Then after Elma’s issues I wanted to do more than just breastfeeding, I wanted to support and empower women and families to achieve their feeding goals- breastfed, bottle or a combination. So I decided to train as an Infant Feeding Coach, in the hope in the future to become an IBCLC.
So what is Infant Feeding Coach (IFC)?
An IFC is someone who has the knowledge and expertise to support and assist women and families to achieve their feeding goals. I will give personalised guidance and support to meet your needs and wishes. You might want to exclusively breastfeed comfortably and positively. If bottle feeding is your choice then you might want to learn: when, the amount and how to do it correctly. Or to combi-feed and how best this works to maintain supply and your family life.
I’m also here to help if you have any feeding difficulties: such as, nipple pain, slow weight gain, reflux symptoms and much more. Although there are no guarantees I will ‘solve’ the problem, what I will do is give my time, evidence based advice and strategies to help you through the challenges.
I’m not here to cast judgement on how you decide to feed, we all have different preferences and opinions, and that’s ok. You do what is best for you, your baby and your family.
